You could’ve been anywhere in the world, but you were here with me

I’m the luckiest girl in the world. Not only am in living in the most beautiful country in the world with people I love, doing the most fulfilling job, dating the most amazing guy ever, but to top it off, my best friend Megan came to visit me!

I really can’t express how much it meant to me that she would come all the way across the world to spend a week with me. She brought a sense of home that I have been missing so much. She also brought our shared silly sense of humor, reese’s eggs, nail polish, my favorite magazine (real simple), and a date from Brant.

We had a ball dining at all my top restaurants. Now, every time I eat there, I’ll think of you, Megan. I definitely will never forget getting lost in Warwick or at the loading docks on the way to Moyo.

We spent two days on campus…the best two days of the entire year. We did solarium, where students choose pictures to interpret their relationship with God based on a series of questions, and made some key contacts through it. Megan is such a wiz at student ministry. She has such natural way of connecting with people and challenging them.

Our last day together we visited my merkat friends at the park, ate one of the best meals of my life at Freedom Café, bought some souvenirs at the market, took numerous pictures, and said goodbye for 8 more long months.

What a fun, memorable, silly, adventurous week we had together. The 300 pictures we took of just the two of us & the nights we stayed up so late talking about people and life are priceless to me. Those are the memories I’ll never forget.

Thank you Megan for being such an amazing, loving, caring, selfless best friend to me.

A brief interruption from Africa

I love http://www.houseofturquoise.com/ thanks to my sister-in-law Ellen. I especially love these four pictures, although I don't think they would all flow well in the same house.
Doesn't the front of this home look so inviting?

"It's opener there, in the wide open air." - Dr. Suess

My best friend, Megan, is the best third grade teacher in the world! Since being in South Africa, I have had the privilege of skyping with her class a few times and it has been so much fun! Her students have so many funny questions about life here. I love their amazement and how it blows their minds that I am in Africa talking to them on a computer.
In honor of Dr.Suess's birthday, I read them my favorite book from his collection, "Oh the places you'll go". I've always thought this was a great book for children or grown ups because it is so applicable and also has very creative illustrations.
I am so thankful for Megan! She is so dedicated to her work and absolutely loves her students.
Best part is, she is coming to see me in less than a week! What an adventure we will have!
