4 days until...

In less than one week I'll be leaving for Africa! June has flown by and i can't wait to be Durban! Everything that I am currently doing seems to be a means of occupying my mind...Support raising is still going well. I am trusting that the Lord will provide the remainder in the next week. The whole process of raising support has been very faith building.
Today I was thinking about the people who I will come in contact with while I am in South Africa. Contrary to what i thought, I have read that there is a huge Indian population in the city of Durban. I will also meet a lot of children in the orphanage we are working at. How will these people affect my life? or vise versa.
Unfortunately the USA lost to Ghana today in a close game. I know the people of South Africa will be overwhelmed with excitement as they cheer for them in the next round. I can't wait to be apart of their celebration, though I am a little nervous about safety issues.

Until next time,

k.

blueberry yum yum

Blueberry pound cake and blueberry danishes!!! These are two of my favorite recipes. This blueberry pound cake was served with homemade vanilla ice cream. Personally, I like to have it with coffee for breakfast.
Oh how I wish I could be a professional cook- I've been toying with the idea of going to culinary school after I graduate in December...just one of my many dreams. The idea of taking pastry classes in Paris! Oui Oui!

to do list:

I leave for South Africa in 15 days!! I am pretty pumped to discover what the South Africans are like! I know the Lord has so much to teach me while I am gone...this is what i am most excited about! Being in a foreign place, where you know absolutely no one, forces you to rely on God. It's really easy for me to get caught up in my life here at Alabama and forget about the One important thing in life. After going to East Asia two years ago with Crusade, I came back feeling like I had a much better grasp on how to have a personal relationship with God. This was something I didn't really understand before, even though I have been a Christian for many years. This was also true for my semester in Italy. I learned so much about myself and changed in many ways because of my time alone with the Lord.
I've been so fortunate to have a few weeks, before I leave, to relax and prepare for my trip. I'm taking two online classes, which I should be spending more time doing rather than laying out with Lauren. I also took the most amazing road trip, with my best friend and her brother, across the southern coast, beginning in Texas. Plus, I've had so many opportunities to hang out with my favorite girls from home. I don't know what I would do without them!
In the next 15 days, I have four more shots to get, finish my classes, and start mentally preparing for this adventure ahead of me! oh! did I mention I have to raise my support for this trip? I was required to raise $5800...so far, i have raised $4200. The Lord is so amazing to provide!
